Site Statement

Hi there to all present and future readers, let me give you all an introduction of both myself and this website. First things first, as you can guess, my name is Elliot, and I’m a recent graduate of the University of New Mexico, getting my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science (with a minor in Philosophy). A couple years back, I joined a website called Election Inspection, and started commenting on the Democratic primaries and other electoral events happening around that time (the general presidential election, Senate races, and House races). Before getting into this site more, I’m going to say that my goal is to revive Election Inspection and make it into a more data-driven site, turn it into a pure by-the-numbers site where the data is gathered and “official” predictions are made about upcoming elections and maybe even get some permanent maps going up to the site.

This site, by contrast, is going to be both more opinion-based and cover a wider set of topics that might not have anything to do with elections or even have political implications, it’ll just depend on what I’m in the mood to talk about.

I don’t believe that there is such a thing as true “neutrality”, in that, we all color our view of the world according to our own experiences and opinions, as such, while I intend to be honest and forthright in any analysis given, understand that I do have certain views about the way of the world, and they almost certainly affect how my analysis turns out. Ultimately, even though I have strong political views myself (so that there is no confusion, I am a strongly progressive Democrat and have been for a long time) my goal with this site is not one of advocacy, it is one of honest analysis and opinion in discussing electoral and nuts-and-bolts political happenings. There will a random ramblings section, in which I might just rant about a given topic, but I intend to set things up where my rants are largely separated from my analysis.

Regardless of what happens, I intend to keep this website totally free, but on the side you'll see a button for donations and from time to time, I'll post a request. Any money donated to the site will be going towards either site upgrades (if, at some point, I choose to upgrade the site) or towards my own personal expenses (including bills, utilities, food, and rent). While any contributions to this site will be completely voluntary, it will be a lot easier for me to continue posting with your help.
